Anyone heard about this? Am I the last to know as usual?

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 14 April 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

No, the site only just went up. It's done by the promoters of Coachella and I expect it will be wonderful.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 14 April 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

cool...now when people ask me where i absolutely won't be on june 7th and 8th i'll have an answer!

band listing!

Jon Williams (ex machina), Monday, 14 April 2003 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, i think i'd avoid something like this.

mosurock (mosurock), Monday, 14 April 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Blur are up far too high on that bill for comfort.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 April 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I AM GOING AND WILL WEAR A MASK BECAUSE THE "BANDS W/ MASKS FROM PROVIDENCE" GENRE IS POORLY REPRESENTED.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Monday, 14 April 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Too bad it's not Track&Field Day.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 14 April 2003 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

This line-up is absurd. This is the kind of thing the Brits do all the time, right?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 14 April 2003 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I think they are meant to do different things.

No need to be rockist about it peoples. If this is anything like Coachella the point is really to wander politely around a nicely manicured Palm Springs polo field or whatever the Hampton equivalent will be in nice weather while not completely hateful music is playing.

The point of Reading and from what I can see of Glasto and V** is to wallow in burning plastic garbage and eat dodgy festival food while totally saturating yourself in actually really very great live musical performances.

But I don't camp so I haven't gotten the full experiences perhaps. I don't think they had camping at Coachella so perhaps Field Days wil be more like a European festival except maybe plus Lizz*e Grubm*n. I called the American Hotel in Sag Harbor for reservations but it was a bit pricy.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 14 April 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

What's Coachella? I wonder what the Coney Island music festival is this year.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 14 April 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Coachella is where you wander around a nicely manicured polo field listening to Stereo Total! Shall we go?

felicity (felicity), Monday, 14 April 2003 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh hell yes.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 14 April 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I seem to have missed Stereo Total beneath all the crap. I'll have another look:)

Mary (Mary), Monday, 14 April 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey: you tricked me!

Mary (Mary), Monday, 14 April 2003 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

How? There are playing the Saturday.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 14 April 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh...they must be the "And More" Brezel..................

Mary (Mary), Monday, 14 April 2003 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

are you looking at coachella.com?

felicity (felicity), Monday, 14 April 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Why would I be looking there?

Mary (Mary), Monday, 14 April 2003 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is madness. Stereo Total are at Coachella. Coachella is in California in 2 weeks. Stereo Total are not at Field Days.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 14 April 2003 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

what happened to 2nd & 3rd side stages at these things?

steve k (http://go.to/stevek) (stevek10), Monday, 14 April 2003 22:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Aha. MAJ in not reading btwn the lines shocker.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 14 April 2003 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

pshaw..It's lolapalooza no matter what they call it now..

brg30 (brg30), Monday, 14 April 2003 23:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Calverton != the Hamptons

rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 14 April 2003 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I know, it's the North Fork. Anyway, I am gonna get a hotel and the first 4 friends who email me are gonna get a ride in my car if they want to go.

As for the rest of you, later haters, but the Goldenvoice people who put this together do a rilly good job and it is your loss. Unless you hate fun, oh wait a second, I forgot this is ILM -- that's absolutely correct -- AVOID FIELD DAYS AT ALL COSTS.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

There are lots of people at field days! Which means lots of boys! Which means I leave with like 5 new boyfriends! How can this not be a good thing! You people are all mentalists except for the people who want to go!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 01:21 (twenty-two years ago)

What is Calverton anyway? I just hear the words "Field Day" and am reminded of those horrible annual school occurrences where classes were cancelled for the day and we were forced to play sports all day long. The horror! The horror!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 01:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Calverton is a town on the North Fork of Long Island. It is near where my mom grew up.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"pshaw..It's lolapalooza no matter what they call it now.. "

may i just mention that that, likening any singular festival event to Lollapalooza, is a major pet peeve of mine. a one-time event and a festival tour are kind of 2 pretty different things. nevermind the cliche'd (and outdates) reference point.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

One time, at Field Day, I dumped a whole bottle of gatorade over my head to cool off, not realizing that the sugar in gatorade would make me sticky. Also, it was bright red.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 15 April 2003 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

You should get a blue ribbon for that.
