Did Norman, Oklahoma's finest do it better than anyone else, or did they just fall in line with the rest of the imitators?

If you haven't heard Pop Heiress in over two years, you've probably forgotten how good it is.

I would put "Flipped out in Singapore" against anything else that came out that year. They did rock!

Amazing! I wrote fan letters to Tyson Meade throughout high school. Violent Religion was the first or second thing I bought on vinyl. I've gotta go find that...

How the hell did I miss this thread. Chainsaw Kittens great, Tyson Meade a friendly guy. Hell, I think I'll listen to an album of theirs right now!

I absolutely love that last track from Angel On The Range, "Little Fishies"...and I love that it's as short as it is. Were it to be any longer, its greatness might be diminished.

Did anyone ever hear All American from 2000? I'm curious about whether or not it was an improvement over the rather bland self-titled album.

It's good but not great -- yeah, the self-titled album's relative smoothed-outness left me a bit cold, though there are a couple of great songs on there. All American has more spark to it but doesn't hang together as well -- I pretty much think that they built up brilliantly to Pop Heiress and then when it didn't act as the big ol' breakthrough it should have done Tyson might have let things go a bit, just acted a touch more calmly. Ah well.

I just remembered I've got Tyson's solo cd around here somewhere. I haven't listened to it in years, and don't remember it being very good at all. I'm curious, though, if it's something I might appreciate now more than before.

O/~"no kiss no kiss NO KISS...for grandaddy's candy..."

CK rocks. and they're a really great group of guys, too. i wonder if i've still got a photo from years ago of a very drunk Tyson hanging on my shoulder at a Scratchie Christmas gig...? shall have to raid photo box when i get home and see.

there was also the mooning incident at that show, too. which, of course, Tyson was involved in.

hrrm, now i know what i have to bring with me to work tomorrow.

A fond memory.

Indeed, sir.

I actually went back and listened to that Tyson album about a month ago, but I still find it pretty aimless.
