Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: "All Those Years Ago" - pretty sure it's Lennon, I think it came out right after he was shot. Also it has the line "you led the way to the truth when you said 'all you need is love'".

(yes I hear the hippie-haters gagging right now)

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it's not entirely complimentary to whoever it is.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:44 (twenty-two years ago)

No... listening to it now, and it IS complimentary, and it IS Lennon. I'd been hearing it wrong for years.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually it is such a sweet, disarming song! (Yeah I just dug out the MP3 myself!). When he sings the line "I always looked up to you"... It's so simple and open. And then you think about the Beatles and George sort of being the youngest member of the group, and y'know the "shy" one, and probably being slightly intimidated by Macca/Lennon.... It's sort of understandable that he kind of glommed onto the whole Indian schtik as a possible way to differentiate himself. It's a pretty touching song, really.

Yeah I love that "I always looked up to you".

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

And that goofy organ at the beginning doesn't hurt. :)

"Do You Remember?"- Moose from Reprise EP. It's almost an instrumental but still a great memory song. Powerful but evocative in a melancholic, slightly sentimental way.

Tomasino Jones (tomasinojones), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

If Veronica counts, then "Don't Forget to Dance" counts more.

Ah, there it is up there.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Thursday, 17 April 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
I guess it's called "Remember When" by Alan Jackson; fairly new sentimental country song. I know it's sappy, but touches me... one line goes something like: "remember when, 30 seemed so old, now looking back, it was just a stepping stone..to where we are from where we've been, guess we'd do it all again..remember when"

Anya Tucker, Tuesday, 12 October 2004 05:15 (twenty-one years ago)
