Prompted by the Suicidal Tendencies thread. What tapes did you like to put in the pockets of your Vision Street Wear? Who was rad and who sucked? Who gleamed the cube known as the boombox?

Anyone remember "Sk8 Sk8 Sk8!" by the Slammin' Watusis?

THE preeminent Skater band has got to be JFA, no?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 17 April 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

...or GBH..OR VANDELS OR..TOY DOLLS..OR ALL

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

GBH don't skate.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

DI, if only for the song "Guns"

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, I just played Anthrax's "Among the Living" and Suicidal Tendencies "Join The Army" over and over and over when I skated.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

..Yeah, but alex, the question was "what was in yr shorts...and i can vouch for many a GBH skate session in the day..

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Fair enough, but I wouldn't call GBH a "sk8 band" by any stretch.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes. They, too, should all be searched and destroyed.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 17 April 2003 14:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Descendents
Circle Jerks

HOWEVER:
The ULTIMATE skate rock band is VIOLENT RAMP.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 17 April 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I listen to The Locust a lot these days.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 17 April 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

JFA!

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Thursday, 17 April 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Stuff like JFA and Negative Approach and DI is just some of the worst music ever but I really get happy when I hear it.

Kris (aqueduct), Thursday, 17 April 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I can think of way worse music than that made by JFA and D.I.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 17 April 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

chad (chad), Friday, 18 April 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

and the fucking Big Boys! the first bunch of Thrasher Skate Rock comps...We always skated to Dead Kennedys and D.O.A every day in 1986, but they aren't exactly skate bands. oh and GANG GREEN too!!

chad (chad), Friday, 18 April 2003 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

we used to skate to corrosion of conformity as well... and to get my $.02 in, we SO skated to GBH too.

hehe... we also skated to van halen, public enemy, salt n pepa, and plenty of other non-sk8or tracks.

busting an air to "push it" at the right moment felt great.

like ballet for punk ass suburban white boys.

Top this: I used to skate to Asia's Astra album. Maybe that's why I was never any good.
