At the beginning of "Criminology", Raekwon apparently says

"Julio Iglesias, makin' cream like that nigga"

Does this seem like an odd choice of role model for an aspirant hip-hopper? Any other examples of unexpected name-drops in hip hop?

Still not as odd as 'Julio Iglesias/ Jacked off in outer space-ias' by the Butthole Surfers!

do not speak badly of Julio. at least not till you've heard the album 'a flor de piel'. in the early days, man could sing.

as per always with international stars, the albums that finally broke him in the english-speaking market didn't portray him too well...

the whole phil collins thing is similar

three years pass...
Raekwon is making cream (money) like Julio Iglesias, who apparently has made alot of money, or cream, during his career.

not as much cream (money) these days as his one-time sidekick ghostface, though!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 22 May 2006 05:17 (nineteen years ago)

Ghostface was Julio Iglesias' sidekick?!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 22 May 2006 08:18 (nineteen years ago)

Supreme Clientele makes so much more sense now!

Julio Iglesias feat. Raekwon

So much potential there.

Isn't there a song on Jurassic 5 EP where the deep-voiced guy rhymes "treble and bass we trust" with "face we bust" and "Julio Ig-lay-see-us"?
