I hear from Adam Harrison-Friday that there are a lot of Oasis haters here... personally, I love them... anyone who agrees with me, disagrees with me, and if so/not, why?

Anytime there's a thread here about "most overrated" they probably show up more than anybody, which probably just proves that their overratedness is overrated (all understandable, esp. from the UK side; if I had to see their mugs that often I'd be shrieking in horror too). I like the first album a lot, love the second album tons, hate the third, like the fourth, could care less about the fifth, not holding my breath that I'll care in the slightest when they get around to the sixth. Their drummer (at least on album #2) is fantastic, and they aren't a Beatles pastiche so much as they're a 2nd tier Slade & Mott the Hoople--Def Leppard without electronics, basically. I don't even bother trying to convince the haters 'cause I also kind of know they're "right."

Brilliant comparison. I've always said they were a glam rock band at heart, nobody believed me! And I run the dang mailing list!

Britpop is underrated. Oasis, however, are overrated when compared to most other Britpop bands.

I did see a 12" single by a band called "The Mighty Fall", I can imagine John Peel avoiding that one...
