Taxman - what guitar?

Hi!

I'm trying to find out what guitar was used on the Batles' Taxman. I thought there was a website that todl you what intruments were used on what songs, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know if this website exists? (or did I dream it?)

I don't know of a website, but the excellent Lewisohn book is sure to mention this (of course, I don't have it on hand -- but maybe someone else does). Also, do you mean Paul's solo guitar, or George's rhythm guitar?

If you mean George's rhythm guitar, that'll be a cherry red Gibson SG (as seen on the "Paperback writer" video). If you mean Paul's solo, that'll be a sunburst Epiphone Casino, not unlike the ones played by John and George in the '66 Budokan footage (only left handed).

There's a great book came out a year or so ago called "The Beatles Gear" (or something like that) which lists in anal details - with pictures - all their guitars and amps during each period.

Ask Paul Weller. I am sure he investigated "Taxman" quite closely before he made "Start!"

fifteen years pass...

Talking of which, this fairly feeble song from the Deviants' second album cops the bassline at the very least.
