I haven't heard his music, but I once saw him on the long-running tv quiz show 'Countdown'. Being bantered by Richard Whiteley.

Oh, and Pearl Jam. Yes, I have heard Ten a couple times, and both times I asked the person who played it, "Hey, what is this?" and that person looked at me like I was covered in green mayonnaise.
Tad, James, go out and buy the Frond's New River Head. Not because Nick Saloman is such a good guy, but because Ned likes it!http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=3:35:06|AM&sql=Amyeq97y7krdt

Bruce Cockburn. His LPs choke the used bins. Worth investigating? I know nothing about him except that he's Canadian (I think?).

Ah yes, Bruce Cockburn. A bit earnest and preachy at times, but he's fine if you like socially committed singer-songwriters. "If I Had A Rocket Launcher" is great, as is "Lovers In A Dangerous Time". There's a 'best of' called Waiting for a Miracle or something which contains all you need.
