One act doesn't belong among the other ones. Who will have to be removed?

Gene Simmons
Mick Jagger
Rod Stewart
Cliff Richard
Julio Iglesias

cliff. due to a lack of womanising and debauchery.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 21 April 2003 09:05 (twenty-two years ago)

mick, due to a lack of suckiness.

Evan (Evan), Monday, 21 April 2003 09:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Rod, because I decided the other day that "Stay With Me" and "Ooh La La" divide the world between them; there is no third. (paraphrasing T.S. Eliot there)

I'm just guessing here because I have never seen or heard him. but I'll say Cliff Richard=only one who does not write his own material?

SplendidMullet (iamamonkey), Monday, 21 April 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Answer: Cliff Richard is the only act out of these five who doesn't have a notorious sex drive.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 21 April 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Rod Stewart doesn't write much of his own material btw. (probably not Iglesias either, but I admit I am no expert at him)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 21 April 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, trying another bunch. Same question: Which one doesn't belong in the bunch:

Turboneger
Kings Of Convenience
Hives
Motorpsycho
Röyksopp

Gene Simmons is the only American on the list.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 21 April 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Gene Simmons is the only American on the list.

I thought he was Israeli?

Is the answer to this that they were all born in countries other than those whose nationality they now claim? It doesn't really work. Jagger is the odd one out because; Simmons was born in Israel; Cliff was born in India; I have no idea where Julio Iglesias was born and no interest in finding out. Where it falls down is that Rod Stewart was born in England but claims to be Scottish - in fact what he is British.

Dadaismus, Monday, 21 April 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that GS was born in Israel. But he is American.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 21 April 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

With a name like Julio Iglesias, I'm surprised you didn't figure it out -- that is totally a Spanish name, which is appropriate considering he was actually born & raised in Spain. He's never claimed to be anything other than Spanish, though, so your theory falls flat.

Like a sad sack, though, I know instinctively that Gene Simmons was born in Haifa, Israel -- one of the major hot spots now for terrorist activity. He's always been proud of his Israeli heritage, though.

Anyway, killian, you posted what I was thinking in regards to the first list. Almost exactly what I was thinking. Spoo-kay.

As for the second list, I would have to say that Kings of Convenience are the odd ones out this time 'round because they're the only artist on the list whom I've actually heard of before. I really need to start paying attention to new music.

Is the answer The Hives because they're Swedish, while all the rest are Norwegian?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 21 April 2003 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

(trying to redirect Geir's attention to a thread that doesn't have to do with race relations)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 21 April 2003 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Hives is correct.

Silly me, how could I forget that every Spanish speaker with a Hispanic name was born in Spain... doh!
