albums that are so engrossing (or something) that you only listen to them every so often, even though you probably like them more than what you usually listen to

inspired by the third eye foundation thread
little lost soul by the third eye foundation is one of the greatest albums i've ever heard
every time i listen to it i am amazed by how good it is,every time it is mentioned i enthuse about it,yet i don't listen to it all that often and have only one other album by him

also,stuff like dirty three,gorecki's third symphony,arvo part

whenever i listen to stuff like this it amazes me,could it be that its too involved or something?
does anyone know what i'm getting at?

Mr. Bungle's Disco Volante, partially because it's just so damned adventurous and unboxable and entirely insane (or in traditional crit-terms "challenging"), mostly because it's not one of those appropriate-for-lots-of-settings recordings. But at least once a month, I'm up in the wee hours, can't sleep and don't even want to, I put this on through headphones and disappear into the deep dark cracks between "Desert Search for Techno Allah" and "Merry Go Bye-Bye" with my butt-cheeks clenched tightly (cuz it's quite a ride of an album).
