Anyone heard this? Why should/shouldn't I buy it?

Because it's the greatest narrative rap of the golden age of the underground.

How bout the main thing I focus on: the beats?

Are you talking about the single or the album? I'm not actually sure what this is. The Fondle 'Em LP that the single "Clear Blue Skies" was on was self-titled. Maybe this was reissued on CD and retitled? I thought you were talking about the single. The beats on the LP are great, though, and the whole thing is amazing. But if they have another album out called _Clear Blue Skies_ then I can't exactly vouch for it since I'm not sure what it is.

There was an EP titled 'Clear Blue Skies' (which I think is the 'LP' you're referring to) that came out many moons ago. It's now being re-released with some extra tracks, making it an LP. In any case, thanks for the response.

Ooooooohhhhh, I see, sorry about my confusion.

This is what I was thinking of: http://sandbox.pair.com/fondle/2.html --if the reissue is anything like that, then get it, it's really worth it.

I think the actual name of the disc is 'Re:Release (Clear Blue Skies).
Oh, and it's Juggaknots, with a 'k'.

Damn, that looks cool. The beats aren't jiggy in any way, sorta lo-fi, but they definitely serve the songs. It was one of the first -- maybe even THE FIRST-- "underground" hip hop record that I ever bought and it had a big impact on me. "Clear Blue Skies" is completely CLASSIC.

Just placed an order for it at cduniverse.com. Scott, have you heard Prince Paul's 'Prince Among Thieves'? It 'stars' Breezly Brewin and is REALLY good.

buttch (Oops), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, that's great!
