Hello, I have not spoken here before but hoped someone might be able to help me locate a ceratin cd, which I currently possess as an l.p. only. I no longer have a record player! It's by Buddy Cole and Bing Crosby, entitled "SOME FINE OLD CHESTNUTS / NEW TRICKS"(MCLD19377).Thank you, all the best.

I too am looking for this legendry portmanteau CD-release. It seems incredible to me that two albums as highly esteemed as these, by one of the 20th century's brightest stars, are seemingly no longer available anywhere, even though they were re-released on a double CD as recently as 1997.. Does anyone have any ideas?
(I regularly try Gemm.com, Dress Circle, Ebay, Amazon, and have also signed up as member of the Crosby chat-forum - all to no avail!). For those who don't know, they really are a great couple of albums.

I so wish this was about the Kids In the Hall characater Buddy Cole.

Unbelievable! I too am trying to get hold of the 1999 MCA CD release of "Some Fine Old Chestnuts / New Tricks", but am having no luck whatever. Maybe the reason why so few people are chatting in general - fluently, enthusiatically and confidently - about Bing Crosby on ILM, is because people are increasingly deprived of opportunities to explore his work: any new fan, currently only familiar with Bing's more well known material, evidently has a very hard time dicovering gems from his wider back-catalogue, such as these two albums.

Good luck!!!

I have over 55 years experience as a music collector, and I have not been able to track this release down. It's what they call "out of circulation". Good luck.

Have you tried ringing local music stores?

Ditto.

With over 55 years of experience, I guess you should know where to procure a copy, if, indeed, it is possible. I'm familiar with the terms "discontinued and "deleted", but "out of circulation" is a new one on me, somehow sounding more terminal, offering less hope.

I already have these titles by Bing Crosby and the Buddy Cole Trio on sepearate vinyls, although I no longer have a record player; and so I've been visiting gemm, ebay, amazon regularly for the last six months, and have also placed an indefinite order standing with DressCircle.com, trying to obtain that elusive CD. My strategy to-date has largely been to concentrate on the internet, but I think your idea that I try individual music stores on spec is a very good one: I will start ringing around, targetting outlets who don't advertise their stock online.

Thanks for your advice, Filks, and for wishing me luck in my endeavour.

I, too, was trying to find a copy of this CD - all last year, in fact. Regrettably, I never came near, and with all hope dwindling, I eventually took the trouble to ring MCA directly. After being put on hold, the receptionist was very unhelpful on the phone, and I haven't tried since.

Bing Crosby and the Buddy Cole Trio: no doubt a subject worthy of discussion, though it is being far too dryly handled by this thread's contributors, I fear. Moreover, you have established by now, surely, that the CD is impossible to get hold of, and you know precisely where it is impossible to get hold of it from.

You are all wasting your time.

one year passes...
In the early 1950's I bought this Decca 45 of Bing Crosby. I'll never forget; the two songs were, 'In A Little Spanish Town,' and 'Old Man River.' I like Crosby alright, but the combo on this 45 was so fun! The group almost swung poor Bing right off the sides. I do believe it was that sound, by that combo, lead by Buddy Cole, that first motivated me to play music.

"Hot And Cole", with Buddy Cole at the Hammond Organ and Vince Terri on guitar is one to get.

Hi, can anyone tell me if this album is available again now after so long? I have been trying to find this album everywhere, but can't find it. You may have found it by now, so is this album still out of print?

Can anyone recommend a good CD comp of what they'd consider Bing's peak? I'd assume something like mid 30s-40s?
