I went to the link given by Paul Cox, and it says they were investigating a problem on July 5. Anyone know if the problem still exists? When I try to connect to soulseek on my computer, I just wait awhile and then find out it's not responding, so I'm not sure if it's soulseek or my computer.

Thanks,

works fine here

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you think the RIAA is aware of slsk or do you think they are only targeting Kazaa users? I must admit this has been a worry of mine, although not a major one.

Larcole (Nicole), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd guess P2P in general is their target, but I presume they're after the higher profile setups.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I have seen no press mentions of seoulsique yet, if that's any barometer (maybe cos skinflint pirate music-industry journos wanna keep mum?)

people who randomly ban users should be fucking killed

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I must hold to some absurd level of politeness. I even msg people to apologize if I'm signing off in the middle of their d/l.

Is there a problem wit slsk currently? I can't seem to connect and when i go to the website it gives me all this weird German shit. What the bumba. It says something about a new 149c server do i just need to dl this?

peckham rye, Sunday, 28 December 2003 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i haven't been able to connect in a few days now.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 28 December 2003 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm connected right now and have been all night. they were putting a cap on the number of users who could be on at any one time, dunno if that's still the case.

peckham, did you try www.slsknet.org?

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Sunday, 28 December 2003 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

you need to download version 152, 151 won't work anymore.

zappi (joni), Sunday, 28 December 2003 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

ah many thanks chico, i was going to the wrong website.

peckham rye, Sunday, 28 December 2003 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

don't tell the police though.

peckham rye, Sunday, 28 December 2003 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't get Soulseek to run at at all. It worked fine until about a week ago, now it just crashes when I start it. Tried the new 152 version, no difference.

I recently installed Kazaa Lite k++ - does this 'interfere' with slsk, or something?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 28 December 2003 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Sometimes if you're sharing too many files it freezes or crashes. It might be that.

p rye, Sunday, 28 December 2003 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Good idea, I'll try unsharing my 7 gig mp3s folder and see if that solves it.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 28 December 2003 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine is 12 gigs and works fine.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 28 December 2003 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, yeah. You see people sharing 15,000 files with no problems. I've only got about 1,500. Maybe it's the fact I'm running Windows 98? Apparently Win98's dial up settings has problems with certain connections, whatever they might be.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Sunday, 28 December 2003 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I had 151 and wasn't able to connect for days; totally forgot to check the main page for a new version. Sure enough, 152 solved it. It used to be that it would tell you to upgrade!

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 28 December 2003 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, I renamed my mp3 folder so soulseek couldn't try sharing it and therefore crash, and it's worked and let me log in.

Once again it appears to be shite. I can find very few things when it connects at all, and am getting loads of "Error getting file list" messages and people who are on my list are getting that off me too (I only share with people on my list - but I add anyone I download off). Plus whenever I close it, it crashes and says it wants to send an error report or whatever to Microsoft.

Any else having these problems? Is there a new version about? The slsk.blogspot.com page appears to be down too.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 6 May 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no, the blog is there. But not updated since early March.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 6 May 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

nick, are you behind a firewall or router? that would explain the "error getting file list" messages.

try forwarding your ports. 2234 and 5534.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 6 May 2004 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Theres a problem with 'Lagging' you may find your buddylists wont load and you cant search/download/browse etc while the list hasnt loaded. It's only affecting some people and it's not connected to which version of soulseek you use.
Search the message board too

has anyone else gotten this message: "System Message: You have been banned for 30 minutes. This is usually the results of doing too many operations at once. Do not flood chat rooms or private chat with many messages. Do not repeat the same text several times in a row. Do not repeat quickly a search. Do not connect and disconnect quickly. Do not connect many clients at once from the same IP. This list is by no mean exhaustive. You will be able to reconnect to the service in 30 minutes. NOTE: This is an automatic message, dont try to answer it"??

I simply had slsk up, I was neither downloading nor searching for anything.

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 2 July 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Yes! I guess I'm not the only one then, I have no idea what's up ith that, do you run ssX?

Jena (JenaP), Saturday, 2 July 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

no, normal windows slsk. It happened overnight and inconvenienced no-one but people downloading from me I guess, but it's still weird

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 2 July 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

It appeared once for me, I never did figure it out but it never happened again. I felt guilty!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Saturday, 2 July 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

i have also received that message once. figure it's just a glitch. have not had it in quite some time,so nothing to worry about.

william (william), Saturday, 2 July 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

hey does anyone know if i have ports 2234 and 5534 forwarded via my router settings, should the port number in slsk's general options window still be 4684? or should i change that to 2234?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Saturday, 2 July 2005 17:40 (twenty years ago)

I got that once too.

- (smile), Saturday, 2 July 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

that has happened to me when i tried to search too many things at once.

i think some people have weird shit going on that makes it hapen to them when they ain't actively doin' anything. i know some people get banned all the time.

the temptation of wheat (the temptation of wheat), Saturday, 2 July 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

Is it the case that you'll only get search results back from other users running the same client number/build as yourself?

Stephen Stockwell (Stephen Stockwell), Sunday, 3 July 2005 06:15 (twenty years ago)

reghulators....mount up

tremendoid (tremendoid), Sunday, 3 July 2005 08:57 (twenty years ago)

you should change it to 2234 (or open 4684 on your router)
