I'll prob'ly change my mind in a minute though.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 24 April 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"Road Movie to Berlin", "Birdhouse", the short-and-sweet "Toddler Highway", and "Don't Let's Start" belong in there somewhere too, but I'm not sure where.

The quirky clever disease... More fearful than S M A L L or C H I C K E N !

(sorry, it's tempting to make all sorts of disease jokes with all the POX threads, but I couldn't resist myself this time)

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 24 April 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

"It's Not My Birthday" was one I wanted to put on but forgot what it was called! And I love "Robot Parade", it freaks me out a little bit.

Another one I wish I had thought to include (say, in place of "aka Driver") is "The Day" (like the day Marvin Gaye/and Phil Ochs got married/the trees all waved their giant arms/and happiness bled/from every street-corner), cuz it's just overdramatic enough that it works really well.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 24 April 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Off the top of my head:

1. Snowball in Hell
2. Ana Ng
3. Mammal
4. Nightgown of the Sullen Moon
5. Birdhouse in Your Soul
6. Narrow Your Eyes (which I covered on a TMBG tribute album when I was in high school)
7. The Guitar
8. Hearing Aid
9. Dinner Bell
and this is probably cheating, but...
10. Fingertips

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 24 April 2003 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

what's that blue thing doing here? ;-)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 24 April 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

About a year ago, I made a compilation of all my favorite tracks from the (4 or 5?) albums I own. (Haha used to own.) Will post the tracklist when I get home.

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Thursday, 24 April 2003 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I think my fave part of Fingertips is "I found a new friend underneath my pillow."

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I love "Fingertips"; I think my fav is the actual "fingertips" part with the banjo. I used to live with a guy who hated TMBG, and his pride-and-joy was his 100-disk CD changer, which he loaded up with Phish and Grateful Dead concert bootlegs and good GOD it got old REAL fast. But I used to sneak Apollo 18 in there and after every other 30-friggin-minute version of "Chalkdust Torture" or "Truckin" or whatever, you'd get this little bitty 20 seconds of "fingertips" or "please pass the milk please". That was so much fun.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Doing a truncated 'POV' because I've not heard many of their albums:

"Spiraling Shape", "I Palindrome I", "Particle Man", "Unrelated Thing", "Fingertips" (18-38).

gazuga (gazuga), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

"They'll Need A Crane" is a really wonderful song.

Adam A. (Keiko), Thursday, 24 April 2003 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Doctor Worm, Dig My Grave, End of the Tour, Cyclops Rock, Everything Right is Wrong Again, Mammal, Meet James Ensor, I Can Hear You, For Science, SEXXY.

Not even a best-of ten, just a ten. They have so many good songs it would be hard to go wrong.

matt riedl (veal), Thursday, 24 April 2003 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Not enough people have mentioned Particle Man.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 24 April 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck Particle Man. No one has mentioned their best song, Certain People I Could Name.

Chris P (Chris P), Thursday, 24 April 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't tell me "Fuck Particle Man", one time, in school, we did a whole found art piece around Particle Man. It was fucking awesome, and also we did this to Born in the USA.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 24 April 2003 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Particle Man is a great song but certainly not one of their 10 best. Your found art project may be one of the 10 best found art projects ever, though.
