Thoughts? Personally, I think they've rocked. And the big black guy who was there the first day, for no reason, was hilarious.

The skit they did yesterday with the "hipster infestation" that was solved by a man in the audience saying he was going to read an unpublished work by Dave Eggers, while watching the directors cut of Down By Fire with Lou Reed, was very hilarious.

could the "big black guy" have been Mick Collins? if so, curse me for missing it. Anybody know?

mick's not very big tho, is he?

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 April 2003 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't know!

I thought he was in fact quite tall.

What's this "thus far"? They've been on all week or something? Forgive me, I live under a rock.

It wasn't mick collins, this guy was a really thick bouncer type fellow.

I saw them the other night and I thought they were really good. I just saw last night's episode on comedy central about three minutes ago and thought their performance was lackluster. It did make me decide to give Elephant a listen.

i always try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but ugh, just not my cup of tea. they get props for playing "Jolene", but eh, give me the Geraldine Fibbers version any day of the week.

Saw 'em do "Seven Nation Army" on Comedy Central a couple days ago and ha ha ha, that WASN'T a bass, it was an effects pedal! (Or maybe it was the effects pedal when it stopped being the "bass" part -- whatever.)

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 26 April 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't know Geraldine Fibbers had a version...goddamn! *fires up slsk*

I will alaways associate the white stripes with Target department store because when I first saw them they were being introduced by someone on " The target netwrok" as a hot new band. and now TARGET brings you "the white stips!"

Mike Hanle y (mike), Saturday, 26 April 2003 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

They have the same color scheme as Target, too.

And very good it is, too.

Haha, so I'm not the only one who associates the White Stripes with the whiff of cheap fabric and artificial butter flavored popcorn.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 26 April 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, so "seven nation army" has a bassline, only it's not played by a bass, it's a tricked-out guit. so waht? it's bass. get over it.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Saturday, 26 April 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

octave pedal.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 26 April 2003 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Why don't more bands do this type of "residency" on a late-night show? And would Letterman drag the Foo Fighters in for a week straight, or would it be someone else?

Erick H (Erick H), Sunday, 27 April 2003 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Letterman's 1st choice would probably be the Foos. I think he has a mancrush on Grohl.

paul cox (paul cox), Sunday, 27 April 2003 03:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Blimey, an FC Groningen shirt!
