Should I go see the Faint?

I just got turned on to them about a month ago and they're alright in my opinion. They sound like they'd be pretty goofy and fun to watch onstage, even if their lyrics are stupid. I also kinda wanna see what kina gear they use, being sort of a gearhead.

Anyone seen them live, are they any good live?

They're more serious than "fun," unfortunately, but worth seeing, especially if they play a Blank Wave Arcade-heavy set.

The keyboardist is pretty hot and was gyrating in a sexual manner, which is why I did not regret going with some friends when they took me, even though I'm not into them.

But Les Savy Fav dominated the show as the opening act, and Mr. Les Savy Fav almost scarred me for life since he began taking off his clothes...I can also never look at Easter the same way again. Never.

Thanks Vic. I'm married and straight, so gyrations aren't gonna be the showmaker but LSF are opening this one too, so big ups for the heads up on what to expect.

I do start to question the straight thing when my wife brings home a $500 sewing machine and I have to teach her how to thread the bobbin. Maybe it was all that custom weapon-holding vests and shit I made for my GI Joes on my mom's singer with camo fabric as a kid. But man, my GI Joes could kick all the other kids' asses because they could walk around with like 5 machineguns tucked in a pocket in their jackets.

Go see 'em...good energy live, fun hook-filled tunes, and if you close your eyes, you might hear an Americanized Damon Albarn fronting a punky Duran Duran.

And I have a question for other Faint fans. I saw them on consecutive nights in the L.A. area last year, and both nights their encore ended with people rushing the stage and dancing and wrecking shit. Has this happened at other stops? Just curious.

Didn't we have this thread? Same title too, I think! ;-)

Aren't the visuals the point?

five years pass...

The Faint are playing Austin tomorrow night. Haven't heard the new album (and not in a rush to hear it either, will pick it up used as it becomes available) but saw them in 2004 and the show was a lot of fun. Anyone seen 'em lately? Do they still have a comparable live show? Is it worth $28 or so? I'm not really sure...
