I know that lots of songs have caused a certain amount of controversy over the years for whatever reasons (Relax by frankie for instance, could never 5really understand that one, maybe i just didnt get it..).
What songs were controversial and why ?

Six Months in a Leaky Boat by Split Enz was pulled from release in UK because of the Falklands War. Sheep Farming in the Falklands by Crass wasn't.

"Killing an Arab" by the Cure.....continually misrepresented as a xenophobic anthem as oppposed to an homage to Camus' "L'etranger."

Negativland - "U2"

Twisted Sister - "We're Not Gonna Take It"

the lyrics to 'Relax' were focussed not just on sex, but - horror -gay sex, so the controversy surrounding the track is quite obvious and apparent if you ask me

RE: the Cure's "Killing an Arab", how fucking self-absorbed do you have to be to assume that a pop music audience is going to go, "oh those people don't hate immigrants, they just dig Alberrrrrr"
I mean really. That's like people who try to rehabilitate the swastika (usually as Aztec sun-symbol)--human existence is 98% superficial, and if something you do is superficially racist, xenophobic, homophobic, or whatever, chances are it's your own naivete to blame. Not the public's ignorance of seminal existential novels by Algerians.

I thought this thread would be about the Kinks.

Wasn't Satisfaction frowned upon when it was released ? I remember my cousin telling me how rude it was, shocking actually, but i guess they were different times.

If "Satisfaction" was controversial today, it would be for its dreaded cigarette mention.

There's that Michael Jackson song where he said "Jew me", that took up some column inches in its day.
Re: the thread header, things spelled with a K where C belongs always make me think of the KKK.
