From NY. Any good-what do they sound like?

I would love to know what they sound like! The Apollo Heights grew out of the Veldt, one of the best bands of the last couple of decades. But all my attempts to dig up more info on them have only led to a few concert reviews -- although (does a new search on them) turns out there is this clip...

Thank goodness, I have some news! So apparently Apollo Heights are getting some attention opening for TV on the Radio these days -- and while I'd prefer that to be reversed in order, the bands get along well and I won't begrudge them the attention gained as a result. There is at last an official webpage:

http://www.apolloheights.com/

And Daniel (I think) posted this on the forum there in response to my introduction:

i would also like to let people know that the VELDT hasnt broken up and that apollo is one of many projects that are an off shoot of the veldt. we also have a veldt album in the can. we have available an ep and currently working on an album for the new album with dave static from tv on the radio. please feel free to contact me at ny persanol email butterflysoup75@hotmail.com. you can see what we are up to by checking in on this site.

:-D One of those videos I had on a promo tape years ago. I need to drop them a line again, we were talking pretty often fairly recently!

Wow, you guys know who the Veldt are. That's cool. When I lived in Virginia, they were a fairly well-known name. I'll have to pull out "Marigolds" today.

I'm curious if anyone's heard the album, White Music for Black People. It came out in Nov 2007, still hasn't really been reviewed anywhere.

ps. the first video from the album, for the song Shallow by Shallow

And I am going to be at that Oakland show come hell or high water. Separately I can't wait for this planned reissue series -- the legendary unreleased album from 1989 that Robin Guthrie produced? Sign me the fuck up right now.

Goddamn. But it remains awesome. (Both the 2022 Oakland show and last year's SF show were amazing, and the new/old album is a treat.)
