There's far worse offenders than those two tunes (both of which I think are pretty good).

Michael Bourke, Monday, 16 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No I like them too! But "jazz-house is shite" just SOUNDS so right.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 16 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'Get A Move On' is the very essence of aceness condensed into about five minutes.

Now 'jazzy drum'n'bass'... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Matt D'Cruz, Monday, 16 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Attempts to revitalise Jazz which are as pathetic as fusion.

Mike Hanle y, Monday, 16 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Not all of them, witness Jedi Knight's majestic 'Solina'.

back in the day when the TOON only had 1 decent club - the djs loved their jazz house - loads of bargainbin house punctuated with dullazz sax and rhodes breaks - much worse than that 4/4 remix on the bill laswell miles davis abortion. i am no connisewer so maybe good stuff abounds that ive shied away from but what ive heard doesnt work as house and it sure aint jazz

trumpet dude told me 'there is no jazz rock, jazz folk, new age jazz - if it aint just jazz it aint jazz its just jazzy

is Jazzanova jazzhouse? if so, dud.

gareth, Monday, 16 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No Gareth, Jazzanova are "nu-jazz". I mean, duh, get your genre terms right ;-)

Jazz House = dud when it fails to be sexy or catchy anymore. Which is regularly. I'd say that there's a much greater defence for jazzy drum & bass, it's just that there's so many poor examples of it floating around.

Because all House is the purest form of shite imaginable to begin with.

It doesn't matter what other genre you try to tack onto it, you still end up with marching music for people who can't dance unless the beat is robotically marked. Feh.

CountV/John T, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ah yes, ye olde house = marching music analogy, haven't heared that one in a long time.
