Just saw this Factoid on the Allmusic Guide:

"Decades after he attended the prestigious boarding school Marlborough, cherubic folksinger Nick Drake still holds the record for the fastest 100-yard dash in school history."

If this is true, it has to be the longest-standing 100-yard dash record in the world.

Other musicians who were also star athletes?

Reached an impressive no. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Stone-cold classic.

Robert Pollard -- Quarterback for Northridge High and, as i understand, the first in the history of Wright State University to throw a no-hitter.

Oh yeah, and during a web verification of those, is see that his brother, Jim Pollard, still holds the single-season scoring record in Ohio high school basketball.

first quarterback to throw a no-hitter? quite a feat.

Pollard looks like he played a bit of football - he looks like he could handle himself in a bar-room brawl. Which makes a pleasant change from the usual mincing ninnies in indie bands.
