Saw the thread about rock literature, and someone mentioned "45." Great read, but living as I do in the US, I haven't had a chance to check out ol' Bill's latest opus. Any Brits got the lowdown?

Dunno about the book, but his tour to promote it was ace. I now have several bookmarks with bits of Bill's fave photo stuck on them.

Anything to do with Drummond is worth checking out as far as I am concerned. He is great and his books are cool too - even the dodgy Bad Wisdom.

WRONG!!!!!!! Bad Wisdom is a masterpiece. Greatest 'novel' of the 90s, etc.

"Bad Wisdom" is indeed a masterpiece. It's also the reason that I now stalk Mark Manning.

Gimpo's there on that 'How To Be..' tour too, filming everything. He wasn't the fearsome auto rapist that I expected.

I didn't think the book was that hot, and the tour is just Bill amiably bumbling his way through it - no revelations for my 5 pounds. Though I couldn't resist buying a billboard.

So, borrow the book and buy 20 pieces of his photo instead (www.penkiln-burn.com).

I'd pay a substantial amount of money to see Manning speak.

saw him give one of the How To Be An Artist talks/sales pitches almost unannounced in what turned out to be my old college classroom in a run down out of the way area of Hull in front of me and only a couple of other people. it was great stuff, completely natural and unaffected and totally aware and mocking of his own pretensions. the book is good but if you ever get the chance to see him talk you must. i also own a piece of the Richard Long art that How To Be An Artist and one of the stories in 45 revolves around.

Have to give a congratulatory HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mr. Drummond who has just turned FIFTY(!) today.
