So, found out I DO have a wee bit of money. So I went city centre, looking for jobs, and then went a bit record shop, like.

Thus far bought:

Futureheads - 1-2-3 Nul! (I will have to post a thread on them, they are CLASSIC beyond recognition)
David Holmes Presents The Free Association (album)
Deadly Avenger - Deep Red
Shangri Las - Leader Of The Pack

Am gonna try and bust it down Fopp and Rough Trade in a wee bit, currently on the net in Virgin Oxford St. - any recommendations? The Hunches is what I'm really gonna look for, but any other bigging-ups would be welcome...

The Holmes bores me by the end of it, but the first few tracks are fan-fucking-tastic.

I love I Wish I Had A Wooden Heart, but ever since I walked out of Music Zone I wondered if £7 really was a bargain...

I really didn't like that Futureheads thing. :(

Get yerself some Boredoms, laddy!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 1 May 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

"Tyranny of Distance," by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists.

Brandon Gentry (Brandon Gentry), Thursday, 1 May 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Right now, "The Ace Of Spades" by Motorhead is rocking my immature little brain, particularly in the knowledge that it cost me the ridiculous price of £3.99.

Boredoms - VCN (or the far superior Rebore vol. 0 remix, if you can find it)
Queen - A Night At The Opera (£3 in Reckless Records, Berwick St, I saw it just half an hour ago)
Glass Candy and the Shattered Theatre - Love Love Love (amazing joyful party record with a m9nd-fuckingly awesome lady singer [should be in RT])

ss, Thursday, 1 May 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, also I just saw the Residents '3rd Reich n Roll' in Reckless for 15 quid, should I get it?

ss, Thursday, 1 May 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

yes yes yes. get it.

>negativland "a big 10-8 place"

Well, out of all them the only one I ended up getting was Manitoba, so if that is rubbish then I will have to kill Mr Murphy, and not just to make a semi-humorous pun of his first name.

However, I did buy an awful lot of stuff today. The map sort of goes like this:

Borders Oxford Street: Nothing
HMV Oxford Street (visit 1): nothing
Music Zone Oxford Street: David Holmes & The Free Association; The Shangri-Las; Deadly Avenger
Virgin Oxford Street: The Futureheads
Fopp, Charing Cross Road: nothing
Rough Trade, Covent Garden: Careless Talk Costs Lives

I tried and failed to get the Hunches there. However, they sent me off to:

Selectadisc, Berwick Street : All Girl Summer Fun Band; Manitoba; My Morning Jacket (for £3.99, somehow); Fortuna Pop! Christmas Gift 2

Still no Hunches. I then had every intention of going home. Until I spotted:

Mister CD, Berwick Street, bargain basement of: Cornershop; McAlmont & Butler; Stylophonic; Brassy; Primal Scream; Baxter Dury; James Yorkston; Atom & His Package; some other promo thing

Seven £1 promos, two proper albums for a fiver. I was just a bit over the moon. It had got a wee bit late, so I decided I'd go to the FAP. Nearest tube was Oxford Street, So on the way there:

HMV Oxford Street: THE HUNCHES!!!

Top day. Utterly top day.

gaz (gaz), Friday, 2 May 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

There's absolutely no point whatsoever in me saying "Trout Mask Replica" at this point is there, because you're all such intelligent and perceptive and just generally wonderful human beings that of course you've all got it already and it would be just plain silly of me to think otherwise.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 2 May 2003 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got it but I think it's shit. :o)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 2 May 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Did I say you had to like it Nick?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 2 May 2003 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Thoughts so far:

Free Association - so 'side-project' it hurts, but when it stops posing it's solid.

Deadly Avenger - PS2 RPG soundtrack. Bit underwhelming somehow.

Manitoba - whoa! Max Tundra with tunes! Kilian, you fucking RULE!

All Girl Summer Fun Band - twee-est thing ever. Absolutely ace in every way.

The Hunches - HUNCHES FUCKEN' ROXOR! EXPLOSION! But I can't play it within 100 yards of other people, cos they get cross. This is because they are fools. Hunches rule.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 2 May 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

No wonder you were in such a rush to leave the FAP, William. ;)
