Single Artrist and/or Record Label Forums: C or D

Message boards devoted to one artist/band. Message boards for and by record companies. Aren't these just a big waste of time?

sometimes there's a nice community feeling. most of the time there's a little too much slobbering obsessive fandom and/or groupie vibes, though. it's pretty great when band members and/or official label people actually post and interact and manage to keep it cool and mature.

Great for info, terrible for opinions.

I'm all for Record Label Forums if...and only if...the record execs at that label are forced at gunpoint to lurk on them for at least 1 hour a day, at least three times a week, so that they know:
a) how their listeners really feel and what they think.
b) what kind of nosepicking yoyos listen to their music.

Single Artist forums are a bit thornier. They are monochromatic and pointless. Entering them with heresy in your heart (and no flameproof underwear) can be tragic. If you say "welllll...I've never been much of a fan..." you get the same reaction as if you ran into a Bible Study meeting shrieking "The Bibles a Crutch! It was re-edited by Gnostic heretics! If you believe in it, you will all be DAMNED!"
But they serve one useful purpose:
Where else will fans -- of, say...Dave Matthews -- congregate and plan
their assaults on ILM?

I hear ya! I sorta like Meg Lee Chin but I went to her board and it is kind of dull and very sporadic for posts.
