I'm all for Record Label Forums if...and only if...the record execs at that label are forced
to lurk on them for at least 1 hour a day, at least three times a week, so that they know:
a) how their listeners really feel and what they think.
b) what kind of nosepicking yoyos listen to their music.
Single Artist forums are a bit thornier. They are monochromatic and pointless. Entering them with heresy in your heart (and no flameproof underwear) can be tragic. If you say "welllll...I've never been much of a fan..." you get the same reaction as if you ran into a Bible Study meeting shrieking "The Bibles a Crutch! It was re-edited by Gnostic heretics! If you believe in it, you will all be DAMNED!"
But they serve one useful purpose:
Where else will fans -- of, say...Dave Matthews -- congregate and plan
their assaults on ILM?
