ADMIN: Wanted: new moderator

I (Josh) will not be able to moderate ILM after August, as I am starting classes for my phd and want all the extra time I can get. I could still moderate, but I would rather have someone do it who can do it well. So if you're interested, please let me know.

What this entails: categorizing new questions (this is the bulk of the work, and is to tell the truth a bit of a pain if you don't keep up with it every day), and keeping an eye on bad posts - abusive, and such (there are also a few part-time moderators keeping an eye on things, who can also delete posts). Content-moderating does take up slightly more time now and then, but usually it's none at all, especially if you're already reading ILM a lot. That's basically it.

I vote kate

I think maybe anyone who gets very mad at other posters would be a bad choice. ;)

Josh, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What the fuck is THAT supposed to mean, you little pissant?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*cry*

Josh, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You seem so dubious. I might be able to keep an eye on things but my time commitments are all over the place, so just let me know.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I would volunteer but moderating two busy boards would be insanity.

DG, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You do too much already, Ned. I would rather you just edit and write FT stuff. ;)

Yep, DG - would be slow painful type of death.

Josh, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd voulenteer but impending move and overall rejiggering of life (including getting a job) leave my time commitments in the air for the next period.

Sterling Clover, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey! ;-)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was actually thinking of you, Sterl. My courses don't start until September though, so you have a month to find a job. Muahahaha.

Josh, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm willing to try it for the rest of the summer and see how much work it is. I get pretty swamped at times too, but ILM is a release for me, so I think I'd really like to give it a go.

Dave M., Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What is "the rest of the summer" for you?

Josh, Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

From now until September, or if you didn't want to abdicate so soon, whenever you are ready. (BTW, Josh, if you want to talk about things off-list you can e-mail me at dmorris@princeton.edu)

Dave M., Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd do it, but I'd just end up banning everyone, so I'm a bad choice. Plus I'd forget I had to do it and screw it up for everyone.

Ally, Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I vote Ally! She would be an online community onto herself. V. postmodern.

Sonny, Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
