The Secret Life of Plants

anthony, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Search: "Living For The City", "He's Misstra Know It All".

Destroy: "Isn't She Lovely", most of the later stuff.

Robin Carmody, Tuesday, 17 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

search: 'i believe (when i fall in love it will be forever)', 'golden lady', the intro of 'don't you worry bout a thing', 'blame it on the sun', that song with herbie hancock, and yes, 'he's misstra know-it-all', which is glorious.

destroy: i wouldn't destroy anything, but i'm vaguely bored by some songs. 'tuesday heartbreak' is pretty forgettable.

Search: "Master Blaster"

Destroy: "Love Light In Flight"

the only 1 of his alb's i like every song on is 'Innervisions', but i like that enough + enough (tons) of his other songs to not even bother starting the 'detroy' column (could make it pretty long if i put my mind to it)

Search: Tonto's Expanding Head Band

tarden, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

tarden - remind me of the connection there?

duane, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Synth-programmers and producers Cecil & Margouleff ('Talking Book', 'Innervisions') = Tonto's Expanding Head Band (60s proto-synth project)

Of ocurse we already did a Stevie Wonder C&D...but anyway it probably breaks down like this:

Search: uptempo funky shit from the 70s

Destroy: ballad shite about God and saving the children. And special mention: I Just Called To Say I Hate You.

Omar, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

lol

Destroy: anything pre-puberty. 12 Year Old Genius, Castles In The Sand? Bollocks.

Search: Puberty to 1976. I Was Made To Love Her, Talking Book, Innervisions. Marvellous.

Destroy: The free 7" with Songs In The Key Of Life (leaving the DLP intact) and everything that followed with the possible exception of the song Jungle Fever. Oh, okay. Destroy that one too.

Secret Life Of Plants = underrated.

Agree with the album mentions so far, although "Music of my mind" deserves a listen. It's a very odd album, with some great moments.

In terms of songs, search: "Big Brother" (heavily underrated, probably because it comes immediately after "Superstition" on "Talking Book"), "Master Blaster", "Creepin'", "Uptight (everythin's alright)" and possibly "I was made to love her" if it rocks your boat (it does mine)

And I got too much respect for Stevie to wanna destroy anything, although "I just called" does deserve a special mention...

eleven years pass...

The chorus on "As" was delivered directly to Stevie Wonder by God.

Oh, this isn't really the best Stevie Wonder thread. First one that popped up.
