Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 4 May 2003 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

A fantastic band to catch is Playmaker. They are playing The Borderline next Thursday (22nd May). You can hear mp3s and stuff at www.palefox.com

Blurtime, Friday, 16 May 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

met Bob Snoom at the spitz gig. it was OK but I had to leave a bit early to catch the last train home.

NNCK is next. should be fun but hopefully they won't play a 2 1/2 hour set.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 17 May 2003 10:20 (twenty-two years ago)

should be there for the no neck

(with trad gras och stenar!!)

Chip Morningstar (bob), Saturday, 17 May 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Not exactly a crappy indie band, but The Dirty Three are playing the Camden Barfly tonight.

cis (cis), Saturday, 17 May 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Eddie Prevost is playing this week - but then he's always playing and I'm always skint.

Dadaismus (Dada), Saturday, 17 May 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

where?

and I might be going to this tomorrow night:

john russell/paul smyth duo and hugh metcalfe (guitar/vocals/gasmask). I've heard the latter in his 'fuck off batman' disguise so it might be fun (there's also a trio playing first but I'm too tired to type).

its all happening at the red rose theatre- 129 seven sisters Rd (nearest tube : finsbury park) and it starts at 8:30 pm. £5.

There appears to excist two different bands sporting the name Black Dice. One blessed by thr DFA, the other by satan or something.

of heaven, Sunday, 18 May 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio, could you give some vague directions to the 291 Gallery?

ss, Monday, 19 May 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

bethnal green is the nearest stop (central line). The link for 291 gallery has (at the time of writing) just gone 'funny' on me but get hold of the name of the road and then ask around (that's what i did the first time but its abt 10 min walk) (I'll prob remember directions from the tube station but i can't recall anything much right now).

I've just found out that i am doing a seminar at 6-7pm so I hope this is not a fucking sell out and you can come in late bcz there's no way I'm getting to hackney from gloucester road in half an hour BUT I am going no matter what. I'll see you all there hopefully.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 19 May 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanx. You'll make Bethnal Green by tube in half an hr no problem.

ss, Monday, 19 May 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

john russell/paul smyth duo and hugh metcalfe (guitar/vocals/gasmask)

Oh fuck, missed it, I usually go to those Red Rose Club gigs - me and about 3 other people, keepin' music live, as it were.

Dadaismus (Dada), Monday, 19 May 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i couldn't go unfortunately but I'll definetely go to some of these gigs at the red rose in future.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 19 May 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Supersilent are playing tonight at 93 feet east:

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Broadcast this Friday at ULU - promises to be very very good

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

supersilent were really good. 93 feet east is damn good venue. it finished at around quarter past eleven.

They did three 'pieces'. The best one was the third, some really really lovely keybaord sounds which meashed in really well with the percussion and trumpet. The 'funny' moment came when the woman from the venue came out from the 'control room' at the back to tuck at the key board player's trousers, she yelled 'five' (mins) but he just didn't look or pay any attanetion to her. they had to turn on some other lighting after a few more mins of this and they stopped barely a min later.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 29 May 2003 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"93 feet east is damn good venue"

!!!!

not a sentiment you'll hear round these parts...

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 29 May 2003 08:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Just in the sense that gigs actually finish before the last train home. That's the acid test for me. I really don't give a fuck abt accoustics, how much the drinks are (didn't buy any last night) or any of that crap. Just put stuff on and make it finish by 11 thanks.

and I enjoyed supersilent (it wasn't sensational throughout but there were some good bits).
