"A Mighty Wind" soundtrack...which "band" is the best?

As easy as it would be to say "The Folksmen," the harmonies of "The New Main Street Singers" just blew me away, sounding like some long-lost tracks from The Free Design.

As I live in Nowhere, MI, I haven't seen the film yet, but if it's as good as the soundtrack, it'll keep Guest's winning streak alive.

All three are pretty classic. I'd buy a Folksmen record before I bought a New Main Street Singers record, though.

What? No love for Mitch and Mickey?!

Yeah, The Folksmen.

eight months pass...
I loved all the bands. The New Main Street Singers were G*R*A*T*E, but perhaps that is just because Parker Posey makes great eye-candy. The Folksmen were fun, but I feel that the music of Mitch & Mickey was genuinely affecting. I can see myself acquiring the soundtrack album.

Er, there is a soundtrack album?

Very much so. Including the Folksmen doing "Start Me Up."

I vote for Mitch and Mickey. Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara were AWESOME in that movie.

The Folksmen are the obvious rockist's choice so I'll go with them 100 per-cent.
