So are "American Life" and "Happy Songs For Happy People" the same record or what?

This is the weirdest example of convergent evolution I've seen.

Stop sniffing Sharpie markers, Sterling!

Maybe they're good Sharpies, Alex. So how well do Mogwai rap, anyway?

you've never heard their offshoot hip hop album 'If Its Nae Scottish Its Crap' then?

Okay there's no singing really on the Mogwai but otherwise they feel so fucking similar in terms of musical texture (American Life and Die Another Day aside, that is).

But Sterling is it good???

about 1/3 of the less electro Madonna trax are good, and the mogwai is, well, mogwai but like they say happier -- I still think I prefer Rock Action but this album is certainly more dynamic. Sorta a Hot Rock - > All Hands thing going, I think.

The new Mogwai is very very nice indeed - its certainly their most peaceful and melodic album, more so than Rock Action. Lots of bubbly gurgly vocoder sounds going on (Sine Wave off RA is a good reference point) and a slightly more electronic direction in places. Only a couple of really loud bits...

I think I prefer Rock Action, although this comes a close second at the moment.

i thought this thread was about another mogwai split 7" where they're paired up with a band whose name begins with "m" in order to cover black sabbath songs.
