Preferably looking for heavy, fucked up, pre drum machine, analog stuff from the 70's.
I guess i would be looking at Lee Perry and King Tubby's as a start - but where?

Nick's OTM about King Tubby - all the comp.s on Blood And Fire are great - Dub Gone Crazy, Dub Gone 2 Crazy, Freedom Sounds In Dub and Dub Like Dirt.
Also check out his protege Scientist (probably starting with Scientist Meets The Space Invaders); Keith Hudson's Pick-A-Dub; Mad Profesor (Ras Portraits is a good place to start); and (if you can find them) Joe Gibbs' African Dub All-Mighty Vol.s 1-4 and Ranking Dread's In Dub (another album waaaaay overdue for release on CD).

Another question..Years ago, my brother had a cassette with some great track, one of which i've been trying to trace for ages, i can remember some of the lyrics which kind of went like.
"hey mr lee what can you cook for me, cos i'm starving, i'm starvin'. I know you're shop's always crowded 'cos you serve nice food"
It was a great track, but i have no clue who it was by
any ideas?

Also, another vote for the "Harry Mudie meets King Tubby in Dub Conference" discs--actually, I only have Vol. 1 but its very top notch.
Also, don't think anyone's mentioned the Impact All-Stars - "Forward the Bass: Dub From Randy's 1972-1975". Extrememly heavy and very simple but effective dub techniques + great sound. Includes maybe my favorite dub track ever, "Ordinary Version Number 3"
As for Lee Perry, in addition to what people have already said, there's some good stuff on the last two of the three trojan box sets. "build the ark" and "open the gate" I think--and what's not dub on those sets is also mostly all good.

Probably the best dub comp recently is Trojan's 'Flashing Echo'- everything from proto-dub like Andy Capp, The Hippy Boys and The Upsetters to some heavy, heavy versions from likes of Jammys, Scientist, Gibbs, and Roots Radics.

Wackies was mentioned in buttch's thread
Wackies is not strictly dub, but it comes very close to Perry's sound and it is an absolute favourite of my brother and myself.

Anyway, I checked out the tracklisting--I am familiar with a little more than half of the stuff from other releases. I get the feeling that this is a breadth over depth approach. But it's good stuff if you don't have it elsewhere, and I get the idea that affordability is the point with these new CD boxes, so that helps.
Problem is, if you expect to buy more Perry later, you'll find yourself re-buying most of what's on this collection.
