what the hell does this thing do anyway?

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 May 2003 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

It was working yesterday, when I was able to connect. :(

I was once planning to start a thread asking people what was on their wishlist but I never did. We should do that here! I wishlist nearly everything, but I've only had the new version for a day, so all I've got on are titles of the comps on Fritz's international psych thread.

Jess, if you type in the name of a song/album/artist you want to hear but can't find online, it'll alert you as soon as someone with it gets on Soulseek.

i don't undeerstand the point of the wishlist!

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 8 May 2003 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

it has come in very handy

it allows you to keep searching for something constantly without having to do a mannual search so it's always looking for you without you having to block up your actual search files bit. it's great. currently mine has 'basketball jones' by cheech and chong (i'm not a basshead it's a great track) 'aint no man worth the salt of my tears' by norma waterson 'e samba' rmxs by jnr jack, and 'blow out theme' by pino donnagio. ooh and soon 'radiating' by luscious jackson, which i found but to my horror there were 348 others in the same queue.
and it's a bside !!

piscesboy, Thursday, 8 May 2003 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

mine's full of indie schmidie stuff that you lot wouldn't give two rats about

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 8 May 2003 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

mine has SYR6 with Brigitet Fontaine (why can't I find this??), Phil Musra, Perry Leopold's Christian Lucifer LP, and a Buffy St Marie song called "Different People, Different Ways" from Sesame Street. It's been scaled down because the wishlist is so rad, I'll put some things on there at night, and in the morning, most of them are there. It's kickass. But like i said, it's not working right now.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 8 May 2003 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

it never found me 'bardot' by Pearl :(

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 8 May 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Ever since a couple releases back, he's scaled back the wishlist feature a bit, so that now it scans each of your entries sequentially. The problem was that too many people were putting too many entries on their wishlist, causing too much stress on the server. Anyway, you can read about it in the news section of the site.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 9 May 2003 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Friday, 9 May 2003 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Jess I think that's because your taste is too canonical.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Friday, 9 May 2003 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

piscesboy, Friday, 9 May 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i love the wishlist and i hope it's returned to full functionality someday; almost everything i've put on it i've found except ton vlasman (psych-folk, allegedly) and an absu side project (equimanthorn). i have to say, soulseek owns me at this point.

your null fame (yournullfame), Friday, 9 May 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 9 May 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaron W (Aaron W), Friday, 9 May 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Unless your on Slsk and I can snag it from you?

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 9 May 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Soulseek always shit? I got a new computer and downloaded it and it has connected me about twice out of the 20 times I've tried so far. It keeps saying the service is down.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 May 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris-- Sorry, I'm at work and the CD and my slsk is at home! My username is spectatorr. I'll try to get it up for you some time on Saturday.
