Schenker at least managed a few tasty riff-oriented heavy tunes in the early UFO days (the Phenomenon and Force It LPs were really quite good), before he became a self-indulgent technique-geek who plays with his ego rather with taste & a modicum of understatement. Malmsteen has ALWAYS been the latter, ergo Schencker by a nose.
