does everybody know that AKUFEN, the one-time darling of this board, is playing tomorrow in london? the details are here:
it is at the tate!

the catch, is obviously a) janek schaeffer is playing, thus heralding a night of hmmm experimentalism, b) its in the tate, so will probably be a sitting down, tapping the feet affair (unless we riot and make everyone get up and dance). however, i dont recall him ever playing in london, at least not in the last year, so this seems to be somewhat of an opportunity (and a bizarrely underpublicised one at that)....also I am definately going?

so....any one else?

No way! Golan Levin is also lecturing at the TATE Modern tmmw, so I'm in the area..

Oh, it's the same event. Y'all know enough about AKUFEN, but in case you're not up on GOLAN - check his homepage FLONG. I came across him when he was working for MIT's Aesthetics and Computation Group, and no I didn't attend myself.

might not be a seated affair actually - maybe in the gallery they'll have seats, but could well be standing in the "pit". heh, wasn't shaeffer part of cut & splice at the ICA recently? if i'm thinking of the same guy, i thought his contribution was one of the more bearable bits

also if, unlike ambrose, you like sitting down and just listening then avoid sitting near the big generator in the gallery - all you'll hear is a loud hum (≠ akufen)
