Suggestions for a short film soundtrack...

Hey hey
Some friends of mine are looking for a couple of pieces of music to stick on their final year short film (15 minutes long). This will prob get shown in some film festivals. They don't really have any money to pay for usage but will give full credits etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?

- it would be good if the music was from an independent artist as waiving copyright is easier to arrange (but it's not impossible with other musicians)
- One piece has to be something simple, not too overwhelming, not too slick or heavily produced, e.g a piece of music with a single instrument (e.g. piano/flute/stringed instrument). To give you an idea a piece by The Rachel's was used but it dominated the scene too much (according to preview audience reaction out in Hollywood).
- A disco scene was shot with Kylie's 'can't get you out of my head'. This music has to be substituted with something that is similar in tempo and would suit a scene of a mainstream disco.

thanks
Eamonn

there are public domain CDs produced all the time with all kinds of shitty music. Ask your local college/community radio station or cable access tv station about them.

maybe the Jimmycake would be good for the quiet bit of music, and you could probably get them to waive copyright.
