"Internal Affairs" was not garbage.

The new one has high points. Not as great as IA, though.
Prince Po's solo records have been -- consistent. Not spectacular.

First album has not aged well
^^^^^^ not true. it has some of paul c's finest
also check the extra p stress remix
i always liked 'somehow someway' off equinox
pharoahe's 1st album is great. fuck that one from last year though. prince po's solo records was also pretty forgettable

Decisions from 1996's America Is Dying Slowly compilation is a lost classic. The comp has some other moments on it too.

Not a huge fan of all the dated anti-AIDS polemic on that comp, but the Money Boss Players one is a really standout track.

been back into these guys lately. they were some really intense folks back in the 90s.
i mean, holy shit this song (massive trigger warning, btw):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXYXbTH1fdA
over two decades later and i still can't decide if it's good or i'm just kind of shocked by the shit they were saying. i still love the equinox the most of their three albums; and truly a perfect stopping point for them.
also re: pappawheelie's post — yes, they had some fairly excellent stray tracks from the 96-97 equinox era. "decisions" probably the best of that lot:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-3JzZMoYqU
more than anything (and the real reason for upping this topic) "soundman" feels like such an amazing lost classic to me. seems like a mistake not to release it as a single:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0e8bgrWj_w

listening to Stress: The Extinction Agenda today, simply one of the greatest albums ever made in any genre
still kind of irritates me that Nas bit "Stray Bullet" for "I Gave You Power" and it never gets acknowledged

obvious cosign. "let's organize" still gets me hyped. if you want more, the large professor remix of "stress" recently saw digital reissue.
also it's okay, nerds like us remember that pharoahe later bit "player's anthem" for "simon says" and had the biggest hit of his career.

Listened to that second album so much in the mid 90s. The buckwild remix of being it on was one of my faves. Obv Stray bullet was very clever (nas' response was weak and bloodless in comparison) plus that buck em down sample is hard to use badly. Not heard this album in decades (not sure it would seem as clever or deep as it did to the teenage me) but there was always something kinda operatic or melodramatic about monch which really came through on this album. Sold my original first pressing during the pandemic as I had a bootleg copy as back up lol
