I use Netants. It works fine. It's actually powered by ants.

I use FlashGet. For PC, I dunno if there's a Mac version.

I use freeware iGetter for Mac. It's good. Quite why a third party download manager is necessary these days I don't know, but browsers seem to be totally useless at resuming uncompleted downloads.
