I saw the NEARVANA (Nirvana tribute but San Francisco bands) at Tower Stonestown this morning. Has anyone heard this and is it worth $16.99?

I have. It's not worth it--really pretty weak.

It's that bad?

It's that bad.

As far as I can tell, you're a really really big Nirvana fan, right? If you want to buy something w/ a Nirvana connection, maybe try the Raincoats' self-titled album, whose 1993 reissue has a little introductory essay by Kurt (who was a great admirer of theirs)--it doesn't exactly rock, but it's a terrific record.

Thanks.... you saved me almost 2 weeks of allowance. My dad told me about the Raincoats but we don't have it.

I can't imagine a world where my dad knows about the Raincoats--or even about rock music.

I'd never spend more than one week's allowance on any tribute album.

My dad grew up with the Dischord boys in DC and my mom grew up with Curtis from Taang records of Boston. I like some of the same music they like but like Nirvana and Foo Fighters better.

My father listens to "smooth jazz." A world where he has any concept of hardcore frightens me.

I did turn him on to Lucinda Williams, though.
