Is it just me, or is the Beatles Anthology REALLY dull?

I've only seen the first 5 episodes so far (saw them so far in the past that I might as well have not) and they are SO boring! I expected lots of cool revelations - but naught! It's just lots of scratchy video of the boys lip-synching, or the odd performance on French TV, or whatever. Okay, I wasn't expecting anything TOO juicy (it is an official biog, after all) but something other than a popular beat combo bashing out 5 versions of "Please Please Me" would have been nice.

This may well be a little behind the times - I beg for forgivness. I've only just bought the damn box set, and I have a feeling that it's not the best £30 I could have spent.

well you get to see neil aspinall *speak*, you
get the day in the life footage (recorded live
actually on the night of recording) which
has/had never been seen anywhere, ditto the
'rain' video, ditto just about all the
press conference stuff etc etc.
if you want revelations though, buy macca's
'many years from now' (descibed as 'brutal'
by the times on the inside cover)
in which our man talks about taking smack, acid experiences,
being offered ketamine by nillson, w*nking competitions with
lennon, battling with EMI, lennon's death and so on and so on.
it's like a different person talking, as generally he's
pretty smarmy in 'anthology' cause he's
talking as a beatle and he's compromised.
in his book he's talking to his good friend
miles and it's gloves off time. it's also dead sad in a few places.

You like the Beatles, right? I doubt there's much more to reveal.

I like the beatles, but as I say, I've only seen the first few episodes. I havn't got to the rain video, day in the life vids etc etc - only the Red Album stuff, if you will. And the Red Album stuff on the anthology just seems to be one long "oooh, wern't they popular" - it's like your great auntie, who you love lots but bored you to death, telling you about her operation 15 years ago.

I'll see if I can watch the rest over the next few days - I hope the DITL and the stuff about the Le It Be album is good, 'cause otherwise I'll be mighty annoyed.

Yeah, it gets better. I just like to watch BEATLES stuff, I'm not critical at all.

Perhaps delete the word "Anthology" from the thread title? 500 new posts by teatime... ;-)

Marcello is an evil (therefore good) genius.

"w*nking competitions with lennon"
I read this as "winking competeitions with lennon"

This is what got me into the Beatles when they showed it on the TV about six years ago.
