a few slight mentions of this record on people's 2003's but scant more.. i think it's the best new thing i've heard all year. 'alles sehen' particularly, got those soft berlin-accented tones (why is german called harsh? the berlin accent is one of the most beautiful voices, and i can do litte more than ask for sausage and cigarettes in german) , that pulling pulse, it teases like 'roadrunner'. rest of the album i had to ajust to a little but it's fascinating, got that particularly german quality of a wit quieter than the whisper (read freud! he's a funny guy! tho obviously austrian, like all the most famous germans. hitler, schwarznegger..)

i hate falling into that trap of talking about somethings germaness when discussing a german things. leads you to those pointless politicising of local idioms. which makes you dangerously close to being the libertines, english (not english! london!) at the expense of coherence.

This record is great! I got sent an advance CD of it, though, and couldn't figure out if it was a single or an album -- there were no song titles, and it *seemed* lots of the different tracks had the alien berlin lady saying similar things over and over, but maybe not.

cf universiality of hip hop idioms

I am intrigued. Hm...

I have to say that I think this record is pretty disappointing. I've heard it a couple of times and while it does take some chances, it's not very successful. Tracks end when you think they might develop into something interesting and the reliance on the bitcrusher plugin is a little heavy.

I make this judgement because her previous album, "Stadtkind," was really fantastic. The vocals were really nice, there were excellent hooks and it ventured far, far from new-electro territory while alluding to it at the same time.

Yep what direct_program said. Some nice attempts at trance-electro though.

from a DJing perspective, it's good -- I listen to it at home too and dig where it goes, and actually don't even mind that the tracks are so abrupt. at least they don't go on forever and ever.

what she's doing is most likely the blueprint for the next gen of american hip hop & R&B, so pay attention.

i am a pretty big fan of a lot of the bpitch stuff, esp. kiki and nora below.

Easily one of the more engaging vocal electro/glitch records of late.

Revive. Can't believe this album hasn't been talked about more. Part Kraftwerk (brutal, frigid rhythms), part Kompakt (gushy pads, warm centres), part Peaches (crazed, spayed), this seems right up ILM's alley...

i really like "wish" and "open". the rest is still growing on me. or i haven't downloaded it yet.

I finally got this in the mail over the weekend and am really digging it. This is the first Bpitch Control record I've heard, and I'm curious about what to try next. Has anyone heard her Remix Collection?

Glad to see this revived. I recently got around to buying this too. It's been in pretty steady rotation ever since. Many standout tracks. I was a bit surprised to see praise from the likes of Chuck Eddy on this thread. I would have thought it was a bit too IDM-y for him.

it's been my shower CD for about a week and a half now. my only complaint is that the guitar samples sound almost as weak as the Overdrive sound on my yamaha DJX.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Monday, 9 February 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, my least favorite track is the "Trashscapes" one that's got all the rockin' geetar on it.

Thrashscapes is a grower I'd say. 'Wish' rulz big time.

I listened to "Erdbeermund" and "Secret" last night - they sounded great.

'open' is one of the best album closers ever

"Wish" came up on shuffle - hadnt heard it in more than 10 years - immediately brought me back to 2003. Halcyon Days.
