Glastonbury tickets on Ebay - is it wise?

I REALLY want to go to glastonbury this year, but due to a temporary shortfall in funds at the time of official sale, I didn't have the cash. Now I have cash - butr no tickets left!

Lots are on ebay - I hears they might be dodgy though. Is it a good idea to pays my money and get a ticket off ebay, or has Eavis put a stop to this kinda thing? I don't have a problem buying other stuff from ebay (bought my PC through it) but I heard that tickets may be a different tub of tuna.

Won't there be some nice young men from Liverpool keen to show you a secret entrance?

(apologies, scallies!)

Seeing a scousers "secret entrance" is not what I had in mind for a musical weekend. I'll do that sort of thing in my own time, thank you very much.

Ah man - I'm NEVER gonna get tickets for Glastonbury at this rate! We get into Nordicz entrance, and all advice disappears!

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

My first post was entirely serious - that's how I've got in every time.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

What about this big Fort Knox stylee fence that's been thrown up? Doesn't that rather preclude that kinda thing these days?

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

perhaps

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I got in with fake stamps, mostly. Through the offishal entrance.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I am part of the problem.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:20 (twenty-two years ago)

We're talking a few years ago now.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

yes it does, last year saw only about 120,000 people compared to what is usually DOUBLE that in attendance - meaning at best half the people at Glasto got in without a ticket before. it was noticeably less busy last year which was both good and bad.

i do want to go this year seeing as i finally know so many people going. but i have no ticket yet and not much cash to spare...my friend has managed to get in free every year some way or another. last year he told me he drove down for the day on the Sunday morning ticketless and as they got to the site a carload of people coming the other way stopped them and offered them their hospitality passes if they could drive some of them back to their area to collect their bags. he's the spawniest guy in the universe basically...

99 = over the fence, at the back of the green fields
00 = past the torn down fences, at the back of the green fields
02 = bought a ticket

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Spawn is good - but I, however, am the LEAST lucky guy IN THE WORLD EVER - I don't want to depend on the kindness of strangers for getting in.

Back to the Q though - is Ebay okay? Or do I have to look elsewhere for a ticket?

Or even . . . do any ILX-type-people got a ticket or two they want to sell for face value? I trust YOU guys!

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I would feel very pissed off with the ebayers plus I would not trust them.

I reckon that if you just go there on the day there will be loads of tickets for sale from people on the lanes into the farm. I think loads of people must have bought far too many tickets this time and there will be lots left to unload when the time comes. If you're lucky you'll be able to get one off someone before a tout has added his cut.

But don't sue if me if I'm wrong.

it was noticeably less busy last year which was both good and bad.

actually, it was entirely good (no scary crushes, distinct lack of queues for everything, room to camp), except that it was harder to score spangles as spanglemakers tend not to bother buying tickets.

i found the atmosphere lacking a bit as a result of the dearth of space out cheapskate crusties personally
