The Matrix, co-writers and producers of much of Avril Lavigne's "Let Go" album, will be doing some production work on David Bowie's upcoming album. Matrix member Lauren Christy tells Billboard.com that the trio -- which also includes Graham Edwards and Scott Spock -- will remix a handful of tracks on a forthcoming Bowie release.

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

I thought Bowie was beyond all that "let's appeal to the low.com.denom, pop-lovin' populace" after the whole Let's Dance/Tonight/Never Let Me Down period of decline.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 22:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Good question. You'd have thought the poor showing of ...hours and Heathan would've talked him out of it.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe he's bored.

maria b (maria b), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

"Boy, if it's as good as the Liz Phair Matrix tracks," he said while jumping to his death in dismay, "then Bowie will be on the charts again just like--"

SPLAT.

"And the LORD did reach down from His mighty throne in Heaven, and with His mighty hand He did touch popular culture's unclean face, and said: 'Sinner! I command ye to eat a bag of dicks.'

And it was so."

slutsky (slutsky), Thursday, 15 May 2003 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"Hours" was pretty good, "Heathen" admitidely the nadir.

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Thursday, 15 May 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

For fucks sake when will hot producers learn to resist the 'kudos' of has-beens??? There's a Lavigne follow-up and a Pink album that the world needs a lot more than this. Can't Bowie waste someone else's time?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 15 May 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Can't Bowie waste someone else's time?

well this's exactly what he's doing, isn't it? - wasting someone else's time instead of just his own?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 15 May 2003 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes but I meant Glenn Alexander or someone.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 15 May 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Gregg Alexander duh.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 15 May 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

As long as he's working with the Neptunes as well, I am happy.

Mike Ouderkirk (Mike Ouderkirk), Thursday, 15 May 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex, you are disqualified for casually dismissing
_Let's Dance_. Yes, it pales in comparison to his glory
days, but I put it on the same level as _Scary Monsters_
and above the Berlin trilogy. The following albums
were a disgrace, I'll freely give you that.

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Thursday, 15 May 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a Lavigne follow-up and a Pink album that the world needs a lot more than this.

Tico Tico, I kiss you and all...but there are better examples. ;-)

I was kinda hoping he'd work with Tony Visconti again, since I think Heathen was his best album in a decade.

Sean (Sean), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I was hoping he'd work with Vito Acconci...

die9o (dhadis), Thursday, 15 May 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Snowy Mann (rdmanston), Thursday, 15 May 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

He was an alien
she said he wasn't salient
He wasn't good enough for her
Now he's a super star
Playing with spiders from mars
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?

Sorry girl but you missed out
Well tough luck that creature's mine now
We are more than just good friends
This is how the story ends
Too bad that you couldn't see,
See the man that lizard could be
There is more that meets the eye
I see the soul under his scaly hide

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 15 May 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)
