Michael Jackson - "Xscape"

Not that many here would care, but there's a new MJ track circulating on the net called "Xscape." It's been out there a while, but it hasn't been released.... Here's a link:

Regardless of what anyone else thinks, I still adore his music. Then again, I sometimes get out my Nintendo and VHS copy of "Dream a Little Dream" and pretend like Arsenio Hall's got a crush on me.

three weeks pass...
was this 4 real?

ten years pass...
one month passes...

At first listen this a lot better/less ghastly sounding than Michael. The production is nice...not too cluttered, a little more boom-heavy than MJ prolly would've done, but still nice.

I've heard the demos on the deluxe version sound great.

the demos are great, and the reworkings are pleasant

"Blue Gangsta" is awful, reworked or not.

some of the demos ("a place with no name") are fantastic. some of the reworkings ("love never felt so good," "do you know where your children are") are pretty damn great. some of each are not so hot. but in general I'm really liking this.

Would of definitely dismissed this if I'd only heard the remixes which are in the main awful...The original versions mostly sound great tho...

Hahaha somehow I can't imagine anything by MJ entitled 'Blue Gangsta' *not* being terrible.

xscape have gone a little too far with this new mj motif imo

The doc that comes with the Deluxe edition features LA Reid, Timbaland, and others all patting each other on the back for their reworkings Typically they play the original tune and then the 2014 version to show you what a great job they've done and I almost always find myself thinking I wish MJ would have left these songs in their original form. Really wish MJ would have produced some records on his own. Invincible really suffers from awful production,

Diggin this album.

What I heard from 'Michael' sounded so bad I never listened to the album. Should I?

the /thriller/-era "behind the mask" cover on /michael/ is amazing

Can't get with the New Jack Swing drums added to this a decade later. Blech.

most of the demos don't do anything for me but i actually like all the remastered tracks a lot... even blue gangster, as silly as it is.
