Izzy Stradlin and the Ju-ju Hounds - Classic or Classic?

This album RULES! I hadn't listened to it in years, but pulled it out tonight. What a great Saturday night record. I think "Time Gone By" is my favorite song, but of course "Shuffle it All" is a classic. I really like his voice. I completely forgot that fuckin' Ron Wood and Nicky Hopkins played on it, and Ian McLagan is ALL OVER IT!! Come to think of it, I thought Izzy's songs were among the highest points of the two Use Your Illusion records. No wonder GnR lost the plot after this guy left.

Man, I never even heard the other records. Anybody else?

I will admit it, I used to have a copy of this as well. I agree with Mr. Diamond, I just wish I still had my old copy.

C.Lassic, if it's the one with the "Pressure Drop" cover!

yup, it's the one with the rocked up "Pressure Drop". I finally got around to digging it up and giving it a listen today. real good Stonesy stuff, and Izzy's raspy voice helps it remind me of when Keef sings, which I always love.

I love the instrumental section at the end of "Take A Look At The Guy", it feels completely different from the rest of the song, but what a beautiful melody.

I think Izzy's had a couple other solo albums since, are they any good?

I put this on tonight after not hearing it for a few years. Still sounds great! Probably one of my all-time favorites, though it never comes to mind whenever I'm asked to name such things.

i remember this being a surprise at the time. a lot more humble and trimmed than the illusion records. but still pretty damn good! 'shuffle it all' is a classic piece. 'bucket o' trouble rocks out nicely too

It was in one of the Kerrang polls recently. the 1992 poll i think?

yeah, kerrang had a feature interview with izzy after the album's release. plenty of cool photos of izzy with sunnies and dreads sparking ciggies with matches.

Dude has like nine solo albums on Amazon, all with the same (horrible) cover, more or less. Posing with guitars, outside. Anyway, anyone heard these?
