Eno, Part XVII: Music for Chores

Just as the
thread suggested what drink goes best with which music, I ask a more practical question: Which music goes with which chore.

I suggest the following
Shoegazer for doing dishes: Because you need something watery, but with a beat.
Beach Boys for doing laundry: Because you need something sunshine fresh.
Grindcore for vaccuuming or mowing the lawn: Because, hey...why shouldn't you listen to music that sounds just...like...vaccuuming or mowing the lawn.

One word: Minimalism
Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians was pretty awesome for sweeping the kitchen and doing dishes. In high school, I think I killed a whole summer alternating between Songs from Liquid Days and Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet while painting the house.

Once I was chiseling joints for a table and found that Autechre's Gantz Graf just didn't want to leave the boombox. Maybe not a chore, but...

Oh, and I tried to clean the bathroom once with Raw Power but sadly, it just wasn't happening...

Blow Out Comb by Diggable Planets is a great album for cleaning your patio.

For some reason I feel like either I Want a New Duck or I Want a New Drug would be great for stripping paint off an old chair, what with the fumes involved...
