Belle and Sebastian steal from Marianne Faithful.

So, the Belle and Sebastian song 'I Fought In A War' sounds just like a marianne faithful song, or so we decided the other day. But WHICH Marianne faithful song? Anyone know? we can't recall.

This is three directly copped riffs for them now... along with Photo Jenny/Wichita Lineman and Beautiful/Half a Person. any more blatantly obvious ones?

Not being a big fan, I can't remember which song it is, but I remember hearing a song-- maybe it's "I Fought in a War"-- and thinking it sounded dangerously like the chorus to Duran Duran's "Ordinary World."

I think it was the intro to 'i love my car' that sounds exactly like the intro to "my pink half of the drainpipe" by the Bonzo Dog Band.

"If You're Feeling Sinister" has a blatant rip of part of the melody from "These Days."

hey chaki, i really dig your version of the song. truly fabulous. i'd take out the dogs barking part, even though it makes the song less conventional.

Wow. How many songs can the keyboard line to 'The Boy With The Arab Strap' resemble? I mean Son Of My Father and Sprit In The Sky yeah, but have you heard 'Magneto And Titanium Man' by Wings? It's identical.
