the meaning of JAZZ FM 102.2

whilst surfing the airwaves last night, I decided that I needed something with a little more soul, so the obvious choice was Jazz FM 102.2 (i think). as the soothing strains of indiscriminate jazz funk wasshed over my ears, I started to wonder: why do they not play any Jazz on Jazz FM?what the hell IS Jazz FM? why is it? what is this music that they play? i mean, do they play that stuff all day? who the fuck listens to jazz fm?
it is really is an enigma. the way i see it, it just seems to play this sort of bizarre smooth...weirdness all day and night, but its the sort of music you never hear anywhere else, but its not pop music realy. its not even like radio 2. and yet its almost national.
i was trying to imagine the jazz fm audience, and the nearest i could come up with a definition was people who buy Bond cds.
anyone here a fan?

the only have two so called "cutting edge shows" a week, however there is percentage even of this show [on a few occasions i have tuned in] that i find dull jazz funky lite.

Recently they have rebranded the station as "smooth jazz and classic Soul" and the toothless Radio Authority have done naff all, ditto with Kiss 100 playing dance pap pop and rnb lite and Xfm playing trad songs rock and faux-alternative tripe.

Also I am surprised that say Xfm and 6 Music don't have a free jazz/ avant/experimental jazz, jazz fusion and jazztronica show.

The closest Xfm get is the fringe of jazztronica on Flo-motion and the occasional Jaga Jazzist track on X-Posure.

More Roy Ayers is a good thing.
