K-Os's 'Exit': any good?

Just saw his video on BET. It was pretty cool, but will I like the whole album? Somewhere else on ILE, somebody said fans of Tribe and Talib Kweli should like him. Of course I like Tribe, but I was very disappointed w/'Quality'. I'm a big fan of rough production, but also dig purdy stuff.

I really liked this when it came out in Canada. Now, I think half of it is great and half of it is not so much so.
He's really good live, but I think he's starting to go into an organic soul vibe, which might be the end of him being interesting to me. We'll see.

Yeah, I'm fearful of it being that. So if the album is hit and miss, what tracks should i download?

Yeah "super star " is a good track. But the rest of the album sounds nothing like it.

Very sappy songs.

He said he was going to bring back hip hop like jeru or digable and the album sounds like more bad Wyclef with acoustic guitar.
Very soft.
Uninspiring

I like the bouncier songs, like "Anthem" and "Freeze" and "Fantastique"
if you're downloading, you might wanna get "One Shot" by Rascalz too, which is probably my favourite K-OS track.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 23 May 2003 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I really wouldn't say it was that bad, in fact a lot of it's pretty good... fantastique is a great track, superstar parts I and II are good and Follow Me is pretty decent... the wyclef comparison is totally totally WRONG and pretty wack... a massive and absolutely unneccessary exaggeration

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Friday, 23 May 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I've talked to K-OS, and he told me that he got a lot of his ideas from 'Clef and the Fugees. So it's not totally WRONG, but I think it is misleadingly accurate.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 23 May 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

saying it's like bad wyclef is very wrong... bad wyclef is as bad as it gets... this is a good record if a little prissy in parts

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Friday, 23 May 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, what the hell happened to Wyclef. He just plain stinks lately. I mean, the Rock???

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 23 May 2003 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, now i'm conflicted, since, from what I know of them, Dave's tastes are similar to mine. 'Superstar' stood out on BET, seeing it in a forum which 99% of the time plays stuff I don't like made me like it more than if I, say, heard it at a friend's place. So if that's the best the album has to offer, than I maybe, perhaps shouldn't waste my time/money???

three months pass...
this album is great......he doesn't rhyme on every track but instead he displays his full arsenal of rhyming and singing, pouring his soul into every track.....there is something for everyone...i guaruntee that this album does not disappoint.....download "The Anthem", "Masquerade", "Fallen", and "Call Me"....different styles used to accomplish one goal : inspire, which it does
