The Revillos - Classic or Dud?

Far as I can tell, the orthodox opinion is that they're either the sad leftovers of the Rezillos or a mediocre band doing the same sort of thing as the Cramps and the B52s. Been listening to them a lot recently, and I think I'd say they're actually better than the Rezillos. Bigger collection of songs, especially originals, catchier, and generally more fun (and that's saying a lot).

Way better than the Cramps, mostly because they actually wrote more than a handful of songs. I'm not that familliar with the B52s, but what I've heard doesn't even compare.

Are they irrelevant because they abandoned the Rezillos' punk edge?

C'mon, Rev Up? That's like the best song ever made.

What, are they not macho enough? The Revillos are the life-soundtrack of hot girls.

I like them. I remember in college I was doing some bogus magazine spread mock-up for a design class and I chose to use a Revillos photo and I made up some sort of title for the fake REVILLOS article. It was a 2-page spread and it looked pretty cool cuz the whole look simulated the aluminum foilish costumes they were wearing in the photo.

Anyway, it being an art school, it was filled with snobs, posers, critics, wannabes, douchebags and fuck-ups, so this real jackass gave a loud "knowing" chuckle and said, "Heh, don't you mean Re-ZILLOS?" as if he had caught a huge type-o blunder or at least discovered that I wasn't a real master of musical history or something.

I got great satisfaction by quickly retorting, "Uh, NO, the current band is the Revillos. It's supposed to be a current article. Never heard White Mice?"

I remember I was pretty fuckin' snotty in my tone. I love situations in life where I get to live a Mad "Shut-up" situation.

Ha, yes! Same thing happened to me. Some ultra hip thing from san francisco tried to correct me, "I like your playlist, but it's spelled the Re*Zillos*." And I took great pride in correcting HIM, that shaggy son of a bitch.

That's the kind of thing that makes me want to say, "Fag," but the only problem with that is I love the homosexuals... and not in a way that I want to "kid'" the homosexuals by ironically making fun of them in a politically incorrect way with a wink-wink sort of verbal expression.

The problem I have is that "Fag" is so effective at being an all-encompassing, simplistic offensive term that really crushes the spirit of its victims. And yet the term itself sucks major cock.

Can we at ILX come up with some equally offensive term for assholes? Perhaps we should refer to all cum-guzzlers as "Scaredy Cats"?

Cramps = Rezillos = Revillos > B52s (slightly)

I like the Revillos, but I love the Rezillos. Went to see them a few months back and they were absolutely fantastic.

It's a pretty good song but not even their best, IMHO. I think MOTORBIKE BEAT is much better. I also like that song about how she (or is it he?)does great clay sculptures.

(My Baby Does) Good Sculptures was a Rezillos classic rather than Revillos, for what it's worth.

Woops! Still a great song!

two months pass...
Isn't "White Mice" by the Mo-Dettes? And I really like the Revillos' "Where's the Boy for Me?" but as my knowledge of just these two songs shows, I just know this shit from the DIY UK Pop II comp.
