joy division (seriously, les bains douches is a great live album. not to mention that both closer and substance came out after ian died).

epic soundtracks -- well at least one album on inner state -- but it's still excellent.

Jeff Buckley has got something in the works that will blow all you mofos away!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Friday, 23 May 2003 07:16 (twenty-two years ago)

while the late mr. buckley certainly meets one of the criteria set out above (i.e., he's dead), he does not meet the other and more important criteria (i.e., that he makes good records while he's dead).

he didn't even make good records when he was alive!

I'm waiting for the release of the Morphine outtakes... I read that Sandman recorded *everything* - and they had thousands of hours of tapes.. there's got to be something in there worth releasing.

It's amazing to think how much Jimi Hendrix recorded that still hasn't been released.

It's even amazinger to realize he did it all in like 4 years.

you know, more musicians should die

Its one thing for Muslimgauze discs to be coming out 'cause he recorded so much volume, but these posthumous collaborations that he had nothing to do with irk me. "Whoah, I sampled Muslimgauze and made a crappy record! Lets put it out with his name on it and mine Bryn's fanbase!"

"you know, more musicians should die"

Any specific nominations (other than Phil Collins, Sting and Kenny G, obviously)?

Somewhat related, and morbidly amusing: Warn Defever assembled the His Name Is Alive album The Emergency LP because he was afraid that he might die in a plane crash or something, and he didn't want his record company to hobble together a posthumous release. So he had one ready in case disaster should strike. But, he ended up releasing it anyway (which is good for us, because the album is superb).
