why don't you buy one and support those rezzies. the old hippies could use the bread. or support your local seller. it's in print.

There you go, there's your answer. Can we talk about God In Three Persons now? It's the reason why my interest in the Residents went from mild facination to absolute lunacy in the early nineties.

"Can we talk about God In Three Persons now? It's the reason why my interest in the Residents went from mild facination to absolute lunacy in the early nineties."

Yes, please - how about you start by expanding on that a bit Christine?

I've only got a handful of Residents albums myself (Meet The Residents; Duckstab / Buster & Glen; Not Available; Our Tired Our Poor Our Huddled Masses; Wormwood; Demons Dance Alone; Petting Zoo and the Icky Flix DVD) and I've been puzzled that AMG give GI3P 5 stars and recommend it as their best album ,'cos I've never known anyone else rave about it (or in fact even mention it when discussing Residents albums).

Is this e.g. the next logical purchase with which to expand my Residents collection?

God in Three Persons is a bit of an anomaly in the Residents catalog, in my opinion, because:
* It has the best lyrics of any Residents album - it tells a quite involved story, all in rhymes, all fascinating.
* It has the least interesting music of any (proper) Residents album. Clearly, the lyrics and the plot are the highlights, and the music just sits in the background, except for a few moments and the intense climax.

"Lies can often give you power like a coffin filled with flowers gives life to the living, not the dead."

Stewart: I would recommend The Commercial Album as your next purchase - 40 one minute songs. Incredibly concentrated, amazing stuff.

Thanks for the description Ernest - this does make me wonder why they didn't include a "Concentrate" vesrion of GI3P on "Our Tired Our Poor...." like they did some of their other albums 'though, 'cos it sounds as if it would have lent itself well to that treatment!

I have to admit I'm a bit reticent to buy The Commercial Album 'though, 'cos I must already have somewhere between a quarter and a half of it on the single that was released from it at the time + the comp. - although that isn't really much of an argument because of course I'm facing pretty much the same dilemma with most of their back catalogue!

Actually, I think the music might be some of their best...but, i am big fan of Double Shot(ofmybabyslove).
