patrick: i don't think i'll be able to access my email once i leave town this morning. please respond here.

Well, let's meet at the entrance of the Faubourg Ste-Catherine (very large building, you can't miss it) nearest St-Mathieu (one block west of Guy, 2 or 3 blocks south from Sherbrooke on rue Ste-Catherine) and we'll go somewhere from there. 7:30, maybe ? Look for a sloppy, slightly chubby, probably unshaven guy with short brown hair, about 5 foot 9.

ILM North Alternative Mix: Meet Durham Cathedral Midnight Tonight. Bring Deacon Blue LPs And Singer-Songwriters For Ritual Group-Bond Burning.

the pinefox, Sunday, 22 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'd have to own Deacon Blue records in the first place to do that - hey, when they had that Comiskey Park anti-disco/record-burning in 79, how come people OWNED THE RECORDS IN THE FIRST PLACE ?? I love the idea of some fervent disco-hater going out and buying Donna Summer records and putting more money in Giorgio Moroder's pocket just so they can throw them in a bonfire.

Patrick, Sunday, 22 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Patrick: they had TWO copies. One to bring to the burn, one to play at home afterwards and dig.

Patrick: ever found the CD shop? It's on 1841C Ste-Catherine W between St-Marc and St-Mathieu, and I am a crack baby, *not* a crackhead. Got my best haul in a while yesterday too; bought used copies of "Incunabula", "Amber", "E Luxo So" (Labradford) and "Lazer Guided Melodies".

Alex - I haven't looked for it since last weekend, but maybe we could go check it out tomorrow night (would it be open on a Monday night ?).

Patrick, Sunday, 22 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Deacon Blue: am I supposed to not like them or something?

Sterling Clover, Sunday, 22 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hmm, I'm pretty sure that it closes at 5 on weekdays.

alex in montreal, Monday, 23 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

heh, esoterik was the first place my friend took me on sunday. i'll need to remember to restrain myself next time i go. bought:

lydia lunch -- "the agony and the ecstasy" b/w the birthday party -- "drunk on the pope's blood"

xenakis -- electronic music

a milton babbitt compilation

the complete works of anton webern

the meet was small but successful. patrick has now met a smiths fan.

sundar subramanian, Tuesday, 24 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The meet was fun. Sundar's bouncy enthusiasm managed to nudge me somewhat out of my usual quiet-to-the-point-of-catatonia demeanor. Plus it started out with Sundar being defeated by a plate of Thai tofu, his request "as spicy as you can make it" having been taken a little too literally :).

Patrick, Wednesday, 25 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"bouncy" is the perfect adjective to describe sundar. he's like a canadian tigger.

fred solinger, Wednesday, 25 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fred are you an exmo
I thought I was the canadain tigger.

anthony, Wednesday, 25 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What in the world is an exmo?
